MEN'S LEAGUE:

This ministry is one where all men of the church are automatically members.  Its purpose is to foster spiritual growth and fellowship among men, family stability, church responsibility, and community involvement.  The League sponsors various events throughout the year promoting these things and they also conduct fundraisers for the Church's scholarship program.

WOMEN'S LEAGUE:

This ministry is one where all women of the church are automatically members.  Its purpose is to foster church stability, spiritual growth, and the unity of the church. The League sponsors various events throughout the year promoting church projects, spiritual growth, unity, and fellowship.  They support the Church's scholarship fund through fundraising events.

TUTORIAL PROGRAM:

This ministry is for youth who are in grades four through twelve.  It is an after school program where students can come to the church and work, while under direct supervision, in the Church's computer center on one of our 20 computers. They are tutored in math, English, grammar, vocabulary building, logical thinking, reading, critical analysis.  The ministry is open from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

MANHOOD TRAINING PROGRAM

This ministry is open to your boys aged 8-18. They meet every Saturday with responsible caring Christian men who conduct organized activities designed to promote self esteem, self confidence, dreams, the virtues of hard work and honesty, social responsibility.  The ultimate goal of this ministry is strengthen the African American community by developing strong, Christ centered, and caring African American men.

ONE-TO-ONE MENTORING:

This ministry provides one-to-one mentoring for youths ages 10-18 who come from low income families and who are considered to be academically at-risk students.  The program works with youths individually, giving them weekly counseling, tutoring where and when necessary, organizing field trips, and fostering self esteem, self confidence, the virtues of hard work, honesty, and social responsibility.  The primary goal is to make sure that the mentors graduate from high school.  The secondary goal is to get them into college or trade school, or the military for further training.  The graduates of this program get $10,000 from the 1-to-1 foundation to be applied for college.  They are also eligible for the Church's scholarship program.


MEMORIAL PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH'S SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM

Each year the Church gives to each high school graduating senior a scholarship of $1750.  This amount has grown over the years from $300 in 1973 to what it is today.  All eligible students have to do is write an essay on "Why I want to go to college" and then show proof of admission into an accredited college and they get the scholarship.  The money goes to the students and not the school.

 

55 PLUS CLUB

Fifty-five plus club is a ministry that provides exciting and meaningful activities that address the spiritual, social, intellectual, emotional needs of men and women aged 55 and older.  They go on picnics, attend Broadway plays, and bring in lecturers on various topics of interests from health maintenance, money management, travel, and nutrition. They meet twice monthly, every first and third Mondays at 11:00 a.m. It's the largest single group ministry at Memorial Presbyterian Church.

CHARM:

Charm is a ministry for young girls aged 11 through high school.  It meets every Saturday at 9:30 a.m.  Activities include learning the social graces, how to achieve your dreams, conducting projects for the church, exploring the topic “how best to be a Christian as young women."


CHARMETTES:

Charmettes is a ministry for your girls aged 8-11.  They focus on activities such as arts and crafts, developing discipline, academic preparation for high school, and the stresses of the teenage years.

 

LIVING WORD THEATRE MINISTRY:

Living Word Theatre ministry purpose is to bring the Word of God to more life.   To enhance the congregation’s worship experience in and out of Church while remaining true to God’s word.

 

PRISON MINISTRY:

The Prison ministry purpose is to uplift and encourage incarcerated minds.   MATT 25:36 – 40 NIV [36 I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.'  37"Then the righteous will answer him, 'Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? 38When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? 39When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?'  40"The King will reply, 'I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.]

CHRISTIAN BIBLE INSTITUTE:CBI is a ministry for all.  The purpose is to clearly and concisely explain God’s word through an engaging, creative atmosphere making it relevant to our everyday lives.

MEMORIAL PRESBYTERIAN CHOIR

The MPC Choir purpose is to promote a ministry through music; promoting good will and enhance the morning worship.
